1. My mother takes Alec to nursery so I don't have to take Bettany out in the midday heat.
2. As Bettany and I are passing the station on the way to collect Alec I feel a light touch on my arm. Nick has caught the early train.
3. To sink into bed between two sleeping children. I realise that no-one needs me and I relax -- properly -- for the first time in I don't know how long.
