Fete, missives and light supper.

1. Yesterday was Oli's last day of work before his wedding, so we celebrated him by filling his keyboard with confetti and firing party poppers at the ceiling fan. The streamers tangled up in the blade and whirled around.

2. A good pile of post: A Postcrossing card from Taiwan; birthday card full of illustrations from James; a birthday present book from Katie (Little Big by John Crowley) and a volunteer pack from the Kent High Weald Project.

3. A salad of oranges and smoke mackerel.

  1. 1. French breakfast radishes, to be eaten with garlic-herb butter and baguette.

    2. It's been rainy here, and when I come out in the morning the sidewalk is full of giant slugs and snails.

    3. An ice-cold cup of ginger-cayenne iced tea at the farmers market. In New York, if they say it's spicy, they mean it!

ps- happy belated birthday Clare! i actually did remember your birthday was around now, but apparently I was a few days off....

  4. Hello to you too, Yvy! the Post Crossing is very enjoyable -- I'm getting all sorts of exciting cards, and learning loads; what Plum rains are in Taiwan, about a stamp crisis in New Zealand etc etc.
