Staying in, going out and girls' night.

1. Alec and I sleep on past the time for leaving while rain hisses down outside.

2. The day improves immeasurably once I stop trying to do housework, pack Alec into the sling and walk out with no particular place to go.

3. "You look very pretty," says Nick as I dust on a little face powder. And then I get the hell out of there before Alec wakes up again.

  1. Clare! I visit for the first time in an absolute age and discover you are a mum! How wonderful. Well, sometimes at least. And often challenging and frustrating. But the awe is always there no matter what. I remember those days hazily. Mine are now 13 and 15 and have Opinions! Hello all the way from me in New Zealand!
