1. Arriving at work very early so that the shadows and light are different, and it's much quieter.
2. The smell of a bonfire suffusing through the office. A tree fell down last week, and has now been chopped up for fire wood. The farmer is burning the bits that are too small to be worth saving.
3. When the contents of the saucepan changes from a greasy looking mess to a glossy sauce.
4. The sounds of fingers pressing keys in that quiet office, with nothing but the fans making a sound.

6. The sounds when you first hear a far away door, signalling the arrival of someone else. And listening from a distance as they get settled at their desk.
Trialling a cocktail last night that turned out to be not a drink but a tiny glass of flavoured space dust - that sugary stuff from the corner shop we used to get years ago that crackles on your tongue. And if you chew it, in your teeth too, until it sounds like it's crackling in your brain. Argh!
