Ducks, puzzle and time out.

1. The track runs along an embankment between two ponds. I can see ducks on both, but they can't see each other, so they quack loudly to stay in touch.

2. Doing the crossword with my grandmother over the phone. She says that the secret of a long life is the Telegraph crossword.

3. My computer is not very happy, but that's OK, because while it defrags, I catch up with a few postcards.

  2. 1. Family businesses. The father greets us with many smiles, the son shows us around, the 4ft 2 80yr old mother arrives back in her massive 4x4 and everyone kowtows.

    2. Sitting around a desk with four Italians, all talking and pointing and grabbing things at once while important decisions are made.

    3. The massive Alps, seemingly going straight up behind the town, hazy in the sunshine.
